Salat Tunjina Arabic text, meaning, protection, relief, and balanced guidance

What Is Salat Tunjina?

This is a traditional salawat and duʿāʾ recited by many Muslims when seeking safety, relief, protection, purification, and goodness from Allah.

The word tunjina is connected to being saved or delivered. The wording asks Allah to save the believer from fears and calamities, fulfil needs, purify sins, raise spiritual ranks, and grant goodness in this life and after death.

It is closely connected to Salat al-Munjiyah and, in many traditional collections, the two names are used for the same or nearly identical wording.

Balanced guidance: Salat Tunjina may be recited as devotional salawat and duʿāʾ. However, specific numerical practices, guaranteed outcomes, and extraordinary reward claims should be verified before being presented as established teachings.

Transliteration:

Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṣalātan tunjīnā bihā min jamīʿil-ahwāli wal-āfāt, wa taqḍī lanā bihā jamīʿal-ḥājāt, wa tuṭahhirunā bihā min jamīʿis-sayyiʾāt, wa tarfaʿunā bihā ʿindaka aʿlad-darajāt, wa tuballighunā bihā aqṣal-ghāyāt min jamīʿil-khayrāti fil-ḥayāti wa baʿdal-mamāt, wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim.

English meaning:

O Allah, send blessings upon our master Muhammad—a blessing through which You save us from all fears and calamities, fulfil all our needs, purify us from all sins, raise us with You to the highest ranks, and enable us to reach the furthest goals of every goodness in this life and after death. Send blessings and peace upon his family and companions.

Important belief: Allah alone saves, protects, forgives, fulfils needs, and grants every form of goodness. The salawat is a supplication directed to Allah while honouring Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Understanding the Meaning of Salat Tunjina

Safety from Fears and Calamities

The wording asks Allah for protection and deliverance from fear, trials, disasters, harmful situations, and overwhelming difficulties.

Fulfilment of Lawful Needs

It contains a broad supplication that Allah fulfils beneficial and lawful needs through His mercy and generosity.

Purification from Sins

The prayer includes a request for forgiveness, spiritual cleansing, repentance, and freedom from the effects of wrongdoing.

Elevation to Higher Ranks

It asks Allah to raise the believer through faith, mercy, forgiveness, obedience, and righteous deeds.

Goodness During This Life

The wording includes hope for guidance, well-being, protection, beneficial outcomes, and goodness throughout worldly life.

Goodness After Death

It directs the believer toward the Hereafter and asks Allah for ultimate success beyond earthly life.

Is Salat Tunjina Established in Authentic Hadith?

This wording is generally recognised as a traditional devotional salawat rather than a formula directly taught through an authentic hadith narration.

Many Muslims recite it as a general salawat and duʿāʾ because its meaning includes blessings upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and supplications directed to Allah for protection, fulfilment of needs, forgiveness, elevation, and goodness.

Important distinction: A traditional devotional wording may be recited without claiming that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ directly taught that exact formula. Specific origins, rewards, fixed numbers, and guaranteed effects require separate reliable evidence.

For salawat clearly established through authentic narrations and recited during salah, Muslims should especially learn Salat Ibrahimiyyah.

Relationship Between Salat Tunjina and Salat al-Munjiyah

The two names are closely connected linguistically and devotionally. Both are derived from words associated with salvation, rescue, and deliverance.

In many prayer books and Muslim communities, Salat Tunjina and Salat al-Munjiyah refer to the same Arabic wording reproduced on this page.

Creating separate pages may still help users who search using different names, but the relationship should be stated clearly to avoid the impression that they are entirely different prayers.

Clear explanation: Salat Tunjina is commonly another name for Salat al-Munjiyah. The wording, meaning, and devotional purpose are usually the same.

Common Mistakes When Reciting Salat Tunjina

Presenting It as Authentic Hadith

Avoid describing this exact wording as an authentic hadith unless reliable evidence establishes that attribution.

Believing Every Fixed-Number Claim

Claims about guaranteed outcomes, exact numbers, or extraordinary rewards should always be verified carefully.

Ignoring the Meaning

Learning the translation helps turn repetition into thoughtful remembrance and sincere duʿāʾ.

Depending on the Wording Instead of Allah

Protection and relief come from Allah alone. The prayer is a means of duʿāʾ, not an independent source of power.

Replacing Authentic Salawat

Traditional devotional prayers should complement, not replace, Salat Ibrahimiyyah and other authentically established forms.

Treating It as Completely Different from Salat al-Munjiyah

In most traditional sources, both names refer to the same or nearly identical wording, so this relationship should be explained clearly.
